The successful Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armón has been trusting SP as designer and supplier of several contracts in their different factories in the North of Spain. As a result of that trust, Armón and SP have signed an agreement for the “turn-key” delivery of the Cargo Access Equipment on the ferry “Trevau Piti”, being built at present by Armón at their Vigo Shipyard. She is a 60 m long ferry, with classification Bureau Veritas, ordered by SNGV2, of Papeete, French Polynesia.
The ship´s basic design has been carried out by Bureau Mauric, the Nantes based technical consultant, and SP provided key information to integrate the system into the ship´s structure. Since the vessel is to operate in several ports of Tahiti (Papeete and Moorea, among others) the careful study of the interface between the ship´s ramps and the shore installations is of paramount importance. The “turn-key” project includes design, the supply of key components, fabrication, transportation installation onboard, and commissioning of:
- Bow door of the clam-type, opening sideward
- Watertight bow ramp
- Hoistable car deck in the garage space
- Watertight stern ramp
This project is a great challenge since the small size of the ferry and the need to house within her structure such demanding equipment. Deliveries shall start in the fourth quarter of 2019.
